Beis Ruchel d'Satmar London is one of the principal Orthodox Jewish girls' schools in the United Kingdom Satmar Hasidic community, founded in 1985 to serve the rapidly growing Satmar Hasidic population of Stamford Hill, North London. The school is affiliated with the worldwide Satmar Hasidic movement and operates as a sister school to the larger Beis Rochel d'Satmar Girls' School in the same Stamford Hill community.
The school educates around 1,085 girls ages 3-16 — placing it among the largest UK girls' schools by roll despite its religiously focused community remit. The school operates a Yiddish-medium curriculum with the statutory English-language secular subjects (mathematics, English, the sciences) taught as required by Ofsted, alongside the substantial Hebrew religious curriculum of limudei kodesh (Torah, Talmud, Mussar and Hasidic religious philosophy). The school is inspected by Ofsted as an independent faith school.
The school serves the closed religious community of Stamford Hill Satmar Hasidim. Graduates progress predominantly to community-based Hasidic seminaries, marriage and family within the Satmar community rather than to mainstream UK universities or careers. The school operates within a distinct religious framework and is not a mainstream-secular UK independent school — its place in the UK independent-schools landscape reflects the substantial size of the UK Hasidic Jewish community rather than mainstream educational pathways. Substantial fee remissions are available through community-based charitable funding intended to ensure access for all Satmar Hasidic girls regardless of family means.
